Anishinabek police officer faces several firearm charges

An officer with the Anishinabek Police Service (APS) is facing numerous weapons charges after an investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

The OPP were asked to assist the service with what was called an "internal complaint."

The OPP said its Professional Standards Bureau conducted a criminal investigation, and laid charges against an APS officer.

Det. Staff Sgt. Tony Hanson is charged with nine counts each of careless use of a firearm, and pointing a firearm.

He has been suspended with pay and is scheduled to appear in Marathon court on August, 3 to answer to the charges.

The Anishinabek Police Service said no further information will be released as the matter is before the courts.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
