The midway will return to the 177th annual Plympton-Wyoming Fall Fair as the event is restored to a full three-day schedule. Gates will open at the Wyoming Fair Grounds on Friday, September 15 at 5 p.m.
President of the Agricultural Society Lauren Armstrong said they're excited to return as a three-day event after last year's fair ran for two days.
"We are having a midway company come this year which we have not had in about 15 to 20 years," she said.
Armstrong said at least six rides will be on site. Saturday will include a couple of new attractions such as a pie eating contest and a Birds of Prey Show. The bird show will be held at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. The pie eating contest will be held at 3 p.m. but registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the main office.
"I think we're always looking to bring something new to the fair, something new and exciting that we've never had before," said Armstrong. "A couple of our board members actually go to other fairs across Ontario and see what they have, so it's bringing new ideas, it keeps the fair interesting."
However, traditional fall fair events will also continue, such as tractor pulling on Sunday.
Armstrong said this year's theme is "age is not a factor if you're riding on a tractor."
With good weather, Armstrong anticipates an approximate total turnout of 2,000 guests over the weekend.
Armstrong said fair admission is $10 for adults and high school students, while elementary and preschool students are free.
