Sarnia police are investigating an early morning shooting at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
Police were called just after 12 a.m. Wednesday after multiple gunshots were fired in the direction of a home on Maness Court.
The shots were fired from a white SUV that had stopped in front of the home.
The vehicle then took off from the scene travelling south.
Members of the Sarnia Police Operations Division responded, however the vehicle and any suspects were not located.
No injuries are reported and police said the motivation for the shooting is not known.
The Criminal Investigations Division has taken over the investigation.
Detective Constable Alex Cunningham told Sarnia News Today members of the community could expect to see an increased police presence Wednesday.
"We are still actively looking for the vehicle and investigators are also out canvassing and conducting interviews," said Cunningham.
Sarnia police released doorbell camera video footage where at least 10 gunshots were heard.
"We are continuing to seek any video from the Maness Court and Tashmoo Avenue area," he said. "If anything was picked up on home surveillance, or if anybody was out in the area at the time and has information, we would strongly encourage you to contact the Sarnia Police Service."
The Aamjiwnaang incident was the second drive-by shooting reported in a southwestern Ontario community this week.
Cunningham couldn't say if the two incidents were connected.
"I don't have any direct knowledge of the incident that happened in Dutton," he said. "But, I can say that we are exploring all avenues at this point in time."
Cunningham said it's understandable if some residents are on edge.
"Any incident involving firearms and gunshots can be very scary. We're very fortunate that there were no injuries reported, but it certainly leaves members of the public shaken and concerned."
Anyone that may have witnessed the shooting at Aamjiwnaang, or who may have seen a white SUV fleeing the scene, is asked to contact police at 519-344-8861 ext. 5300, or Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers at 519-332-TIPS (8477).
