Oversize loads on the move

Four oversize loads are being moved through the city on Monday.

The Sarnia Police Service will help escort the large equipment, and motorists are advised to expect traffic delays.

To accommodate the oversize load, Confederation Line will be restricted to local traffic only between Waterworks Road and Mandaumin Road beginning at noon, with a full closure in the area of Mandaumin Road beginning at 1:30 p.m.

No through traffic will be permitted from 1:30 p.m. to approximately 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7.

Motorists are asked to plan an alternate route and avoid Confederation Line until the closure is lifted.

The oversized load transport of beer tanks will continue on Tuesday through Plympton-Wyoming, Warwick Township, and Middlesex County on its way to the Labatt brewery in London.

There are a total of 14 power outages scheduled along the 86 kilometre route to accommodate the move.

Starting at around 6:15 a.m., the OPP will be doing rolling closures on Mandaumin Road (County Road 26), London Line (County Road 22), and Egremont Road (County Road 22), leading and following the move as the load will take up most of the road.

The move is expected to wrap up at around 4 p.m.

About 100 Hydro One employees will be raising and disconnecting hydro crossings along the route, which could lead to power disruptions to some residents in the area.

Those who encounter the oversized load are encouraged to drive safely and follow instructions given by OPP officers.

Around 1,460 customers in the vicinity of the following roads may be affected by an outage as the vessel moves along the route:

1. Mandaumin Road (26) bound by Confederation Line (25) and London Line (22)

2. London Line (22) bound by Mandaumin Road (26) and Digby Street

3. Egremont Road (22) bound by Digby Street and Denfield Road

Hydro One said outage start and end times will vary based on the customers’ location and the speed of travel.

Affected Hydro One customers will be notified via auto-dialer and can visit Hydro One’s outage map or call 1-888-664-9376 for more information.
