Some "wild neighbours" from Heaven's Wildlife Rescue Centre will be at the Oil Museum of Canada for a special PA Day event.
Free presentations will be held on Friday, February 2 at 11:30 a.m. and at 1 p.m.
Educational Program Coordinator Christina Sydorko said the family-friendly event offers an opportunity to learn about the different types of animals in the community and how they should be treated.
"It's going to be a really educational event, and throughout the museum, there will be crafts and activities," she said. "We'll also have snowshoes on site that day if people want to try snowshoes to explore the museum grounds, which will be free of charge. We're going to have crafts in the gallery, and the museum itself is pretty interesting to explore all on its own."
Attendees are asked to pre-register for the event online through the Oil Museum's website.
"We don't want to overcrowd the room or over-stress the animals with too many people in there," she said.
It's unknown at this point, which animals will be brought in. Sydorko said they hope to see Groundhog Harvey but he may be busy as the PA Day event coincidentally falls on Groundhog Day.
Sydorko said the event was sponsored by Shell Canada.
Meanwhile, the Lambton Heritage Museum will host a yarn-themed PA Day event.
Activities will be held between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Lambton County Library staff will perform special story times at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.
“We’re excited to partner with Lambton County Library for our first PA Day event of 2024,” said Educational Program Coordinator with Lambton Heritage Museum Colleen Inglis. “We wanted to pick a theme that invokes cozy and warm imagery in comparison to the winter weather outside, while also encouraging children to be creative and use their imaginations.”
Admission is free and no registration is required.
