Library launches 'Author Talk' series

Lambton County Library will introduce a new online "Author Talk" series with a Valentine's themed kick-off event on February 8, called "Galentine's Night Out".

Public Services Coordinator for Adult Programs and Outreach Adrianne Lebert said the first discussion of the new series will feature bestselling romance author Tessa Bailey. A discussion about her newest book Fangirl Down will be livestreamed in the Sarnia Library Theatre.

"We know a lot of our patrons are big [Bailey] fans so we thought it'd be great to launch this new series with a talk from her," Lebert said.

The livestream will begin at 8 p.m., however, pre-show activities at the downtown library will start at 7 p.m.

"We're going to have a themed photo booth where people can come out and get a photo printed off with different fun, romantic-themed backgrounds," Lebert said. "We're going to have a candy bar, [and] we're going to have some supplies out so people can make their own Valentine's cards."

Attendees will be able to submit questions for Bailey while activities are held.

Lebert said there will also be giveaways during the event, including a bouquet of roses to be raffled off.

Bailey's books, eBooks, and audiobooks are available through the Lambton County Library.

Guests are encouraged to pre-register for the Galentine’s Night Out viewing party online, through the library's website.

For those who are not romance enthusiasts, Lebert said the Author Talk series will also feature other bestselling authors who cover a wide range of genres and topics.

"There will be at least one to two author talks per month. The other nice thing about this is because they are going to be offered virtually, anyone can watch them at home," Lebert said. "Going forward, we're going to offer some more watch parties in libraries, but also have that option where people can watch from home."

Lebert said talks will also be recorded if people would like to watch a discussion after the fact. The series is available to all library cardholders.
