Legion, Ladies' Auxiliary provide funding for hot meals

Two Sarnia organizations that help feed at risk, or homeless, individuals in the city have received a funding boost.

Sarnia Legion Branch 62, along with the Sarnia Ladies' Auxiliary, presented The Hub at Rebound and River City Vineyard each with a $5,000 cheque on Friday.

Legion President Ron Realesmith said their executive team meets monthly to discuss what organizations should receive Legion funding.

"We see that the homeless crisis is of grave concern in our community, as it is elsewhere, so we wanted to donate to organizations who are on the front lines, and offer direct financial support to their ongoing programs," said Realesmith.

He said The Hub provides a hot meal, five days a week, in addition to programming and community resources for youth 12 to 24.

River City Vineyard provides a hot meal, seven days a week, and ensures each person in their care receives a grab bag of food each day.
