Markham driver accused of stunt driving on Hwy. 402

A 56-year-old Markham resident has been charged with stunt driving after Lambton OPP stopped a vehicle on Highway 402 in Plympton-Wyoming.

OPP said an officer was conducting speed enforcement on July 4 at 11:43 p.m.

Police said the vehicle was travelling at 163 kilometres per hour in a posted 110 km/h zone.

The driver was issued a 30-day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on August 1.

OPP issued a reminder on X, formerly Twitter, for motorists to slow down and drive safely.

"The highway is not your personal racetrack! Road safety is our priority & everyone’s responsibility," read the social media post.

Suspected impaired drivers or those showing disregard for local traffic laws can be reported to OPP at 1-888-310-1122, 911 or *OPP (677) on a mobile phone.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
