The Sarnia Police Service has a new Deputy Chief designate.
Inspector Ron Hansen of the Halton Regional Police Service, will begin his new role in Sarnia next month.
Inspector Hansen began his career with the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) in 1995.
Over the years he held roles in Criminal Investigations, Intelligence, Strategic Management and Frontline Operations. Hansen was also a member of the OPP led Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit (PWEU) and for the last two years served as vice-chair for the Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario (CISO) Operating Body Executive.
“I am honored and excited to join the Sarnia Police Service as Deputy Chief, said Inspector Hanses in a news release. "I look forward to working with the dedicated members of the Sarnia Police Service and the community to continue advancing our commitment to community safety, innovation, and excellence in policing."
His first day in Sarnia is set for August 8.
In June, the Sarnia Police Service Board approved the hiring of an interim Deputy Chief to oversee the Criminal Investigations Division as a contract position. Once the term is completed the board would have the option of extending the position, converting the position to another role or discontinuing it.
