Sarnia's Salvation Army wants your help to send some deserving kids to camp.
The organization is hosting a bazaar on Saturday, July 19, in hopes of combating rising transportation costs.
Capt. Brad Webster said about a dozen children are sent to camp each year at Jacksons Point in Georgina, ON.
"It's usually kids who typically wouldn't have that opportunity to go to camp," said Webster. "It's a great way to get out of the city and just go up north, there's so much fun they can have up there. There's the lake, campfires every night and lots of activities and the chance for them to be kids. It's good for them to get away from their devices and video games and get them to connect with each other again."
Webster said there's something for everyone at the bazaar, from 3D printing to crafts, bracelets, knitting, jewellery and more.
He said they'll also have copies of their community cook book available.
"Our staff from the foodbank actually came up with this idea to support those in need in our community," he said. "We called it 'Hope's Kitchen, Delicious Dishes on a Dime'. "We'll be selling those for $15 a copy. It's a great way to prepare dishes for the family on a fixed income, so we'll be selling those as well to support this cause."
The bazaar is being held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Salvation Army building at 970 Confederation Street.
