Legionnaires roster taking shape ahead of preseason

The Sarnia Legionnaires are filling out their roster ahead of their 75th anniversary season.

On its X page, the GOJHL hockey club recently announced that Austin Harper, Ty Moffatt, Ryan Richardson, Jace McGrail, Logan Phillips, Jake Blum, Jimmy Monks, Nathan Holland, and Owen Brown would be returning this year.

They also inked 19-year-old defenceman Austin Fellinger. The Sault St. Marie native spent last season playing for the Renfrew Wolves of the CCHL, where he collected seven goals and 17 assists across 53 regular season games.

The Legionnaires begin their six game preseason schedule on Wednesday, August 14 against the Komoka Kings at Progressive Auto Sales Arena (PASA).

They'll also host the Strathroy Rockets on August 21, and the Chatham Maroons on August 28 at PASA.

Sarnia is in Komoka August 17, in Strathroy August 23, and in Chatham August 30.

The regular season schedule has yet to be announced, however the league announced realignment for the coming year.

There will be two conferences, instead of three, for the first time since 2007.

The GOJHL will play a 50-game schedule, with the top eight teams in each conference earning a spot in the playoffs.
