The Municipality of Lambton Shores officially opened its new pickleball and tennis courts at Klondyke Sports Park in Grand Bend.
A grand opening and a first serve by Lambton Shores Council was held on Friday.
The new facility includes one tennis court and six pickleball courts.
In October, council approved the construction of the courts after a complaint was issued when it was at its previous location.
Mayor Doug Cook said the courts were well received.
"There were a lot of folks out there playing pickleball. All six courts were active and there were people getting on the courts when we left," he said.
The project was delayed by a couple of weeks but came in on budget.
In October, it was estimated that it would cost $573,887.
Cook said the court is now open for the community to use and is available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
"The courts are available from dawn to dusk everyday and if there are groups out there playing they're supposed to be recognizing that there are other folks waiting and when they're finished their game to allow other people to play," he said.
Cook called the new pickleball and tennis courts a great addition to the municipality.
"It's almost a world class facility, it's got six brand new courts there, the tennis court there, we can do tournaments, all kinds of events can be held out there," he said. "I'm really looking forward to expanding the club more and having great usage of the facility."
