More than 2,000 people are expected to attend the three-day Western Ontario Steam Threshers event at the Forest Fairgrounds.
The 67th annual event officially kicks off on Friday, August 9.
"We aim to preserve the history of what farming is and where it's been and where it's going. This year, we're featuring John Deere," said Western Ontario Steam Threshers Association President Jon Schenk. "Podolinsky Equipment out of Petrolia has been a huge sponsor for us, they've got some new equipment, and we've got a bunch of old. So it's just featuring and showing people the history of farming."
Schenk said some event highlights include a tractor pull on Friday and Saturday, equipment displays and demonstrations, and a kids zone set up on Saturday and Sunday.
"We expect 1,000 people or more to come through the gate on Friday night for our big pull, featuring southwestern Ontario tractor pullers," he said. "Saturday we expect 500 to 750 people with a bunch of kids who will enjoy the kid zone, and Sunday is our antique car show and, hopefully, we will get around 500 people to come through for that as well."
The event also includes live music, tractor rides, and a spark show (weather permitting).
Environment Canada's forecast for Lambton Shores calls for sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday with highs in the mid-20s. However, Friday's forecast includes a slight chance of showers.
Signs will direct guests to free on-site parking. Schenk said the entrance is off of Hubbard Line.
Gates open at 12 p.m. on Friday and at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Friday's admission is $20 per adult, $15 for seniors and youth between the ages of 12 and 17, and children under the age of 12 are free. Admission on Saturday's is $15 per adult and $10 for seniors and youth. Weekend passes cost $30.
