Block Party organizers are hoping to see an uptick in ticket sales before the weekend event.
Bluewater Health Foundation Executive Director Kathy Alexander said tickets are $25 per night, or $45 for a weekend pass, and can be purchased at revelree.ca
"We hope that the community will forgo looking at the weather forecast and recognize that we have some incredible local acts, and big acts coming in from out of town, who are going to be rocking the stage on Friday night and Saturday night is all about dancing and having fun," said Alexander.
The event will be held rain or shine.
"A little rain never hurt anybody, right? It's good for the soul, it's good for getting your dance on," Alexander said. "Friday night we have incredible rock music. We have The S'Aints with folks from Big Sugar and Tea Party coming together, we have A Million Ghosts [which is] an incredible local rock band featuring COOL FM's very own Rob Jenkins who we love, and the Down River Band from downriver in the Mooretown/Corunna area."
Saturday night features Canadian funk band My Son the Hurricane, rock/reggae band iLLScarlett, and local band The Action Figures.
Gates to the all-ages event, at the Suncor Agora at Centennial Park, open at 6 p.m. each day.
"Chairs are allowed and we are allowing compact umbrellas to come in, only this year. The forecast might change, we recognize it's early days... but we are allowing compact umbrellas only. So no golf umbrellas, it's not the beach so please don't bring a large umbrella... but a regular sized or a compact umbrella would be permitted this year only if the rain does decide to make its way to the event."
Funds raised from ticket sales support the hospital's mental health and addiction's program.
"We're really looking to raise over $35,000," she said. "It's a really important event for us. We've been doing it for years in support of the program. We started with Dan Edwards and his Do It For Sarnia campaign. He's an honourary guest at the Block Party and each and every year we try to do something a little bit different and this is one that we thought... Let's go back to our roots and bring some fabulous bands that are entertaining and really just draw a crowd."
Alexander said the program supports the Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario partnership and Ryan's House.
