Robbery suspect wanted on over a dozen charges

Sarnia police are looking for a suspect in an armed robbery over the weekend.

Officers responded to the area of East Street and Wellington Street just after 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 29.

Police said they had received several 911 calls in regards to a dispute between two men in the area, one of whom appeared to be armed with a gun.

The investigation revealed that a dispute ensued between two men when the victim questioned the accused about him stealing jewellery and a gold bar.

Police said the victim was shot in the face and neck with a Glock style pellet gun, suffering unspecified injuries.

It's alleged that after fighting with other occupants of the apartment building, who were successful in getting one of two guns from the suspect, he took off.

The Sarnia Police Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine unit were deployed, and tracked discarded evidence in the area of Kathleen Avenue and Wellington Street, but the suspect was not found.

Police have issued a warrant for 34-year-old Kevin Racette for the following offences.

- Armed Robbery

- Imitation Firearm - Use While Committing an Offence

- Careless Use of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition

- Assault with a Weapon (2 counts)

- Assault Cause Bodily Harm

- Pointing a Firearm (2 counts)

- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

- Failure to Comply with a Release Order

- Discharge Firearm with Intent

- Discharge Air Gun or Pistol with Intent

- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition

Racette is described as 6'5" tall and about 220 pounds. If you spot him, you're advised to call 911 immediately and do not approach him.
