'Falloween' to support St. Clair Child & Youth

St. Clair Child & Youth Services is hosting its first "Falloween" fundraiser with hopes of making it into an annual event.

Family-friendly activities will be held at Reapers Realm in Courtright on Saturday, October 19.

St. Clair Child & Youth Services Executive Director Craig McKenzie said the idea to host the inaugural event started last year.

"We had Reapers Realm reach out to us, they had a fundraiser of their own to support our organization," he said. "So with the success they had last year, we thought we would look at creating a family-fun event together."

Activities will include face painting, balloon twisting, an inflatable slide and obstacle course, trick-or-treating, a haunted house, live music, and crafts.

A few artisan vendors will be at the event along with a food booth, a candy booth, and a gift booth.

The admission fee is by donation.

"For us this year, it's more about having a successful launch and raising some dollars to support the services here at St. Clair Child and Youth," McKenzie said.

The event will start at 11 a.m. and will run until 3 p.m.

The haunted house will be open for trick-or-treating from 11:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to wear a costume.

"We have prizes available for all ages so we are encouraging kiddos to come dressed for the season and there will be a showcase where we'll be looking at the most creative costumes by age," said McKenzie.

The costume showcase will begin at 12 p.m. on the main stage. McKenzie said Bluewater Dance Academy will also be at the event to lead some dance activities.

St. Clair Child & Youth Services is a mental health centre that supports local children, youth, and families through various programs.
