Harmony's haunted house to give you 'a nice scare'

Organizers are hoping to see more people attend Harmony's haunted house, located this year at an old church near downtown Sarnia.

The haunted house opened on October 4 and will continue operating on weekends until October 27.

"Everybody who has gone through it has come back and said how wonderful it is this year, which we are so pleased [with]," said Harmony for Youth President Paul Kearney.

He said they've seen about 50 to 60 guests per night, which is lower than previous events.

"We aren't a splatter house, we're not a gore house. Our idea is to take you out of your comfort zone and give you a really nice scare," Kearney said.

Live actors will be stationed throughout the haunted house.

"If someone uses our safe word, which is 'harmony' then all of our actors will freeze, giving them the opportunity to go through and see all the sets and everything," said Kearney.

The haunted house will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. and on Sundays from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. The church is located at the corner of George Street and Brock Street.

The admission fee is $15 per person or $60 per family. Money raised will support Harmony for Youth, a local organization offering musical programming to youth between the ages of 12 and 18.

Harmony's haunted house returned last year after a brief hiatus.

Kearney said the organization is currently running guitar and keyboard programs, and intends to restart their choir in November.
