Last call: final household hazardous waste disposal event of the year

The last Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection event of 2024, held in partnership between the County of Lambton and Clean Harbors Canada, will be held on Saturday in St. Clair Township.

Residents can drop off HHW materials at the Clean Harbors site at 4090 Telfer Road on October 26 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The free service allows residents to dispose of potentially dangerous waste that may be harmful to the environment if disposed of improperly.

Acceptable items include batteries, pesticides, pool chemicals, paints, and pharmaceuticals. However, residents are asked to separate lithium batteries from all other batteries for safety reasons.

Items such as electronics, asbestos, and explosives will not be accepted. A full list of acceptable and non-acceptable items can be found on the county's website.

The HHW disposal events are held during the months of March, April, May, June, September, and October. Two mobile collection events are also held each year, one in Sarnia and one in Lambton Shores.
