Sting lose at home to London

It’s a game the Sarnia Sting will want to forget as soon as possible.

They hosted the reigning OHL Champion London Knights on Sunday and ended up losing 5-2.

The first period was dominated by the Knights as they got two goals, the first from Landon Sim and the second from Denver Barkey, while also outshooting the Sting 19-7.

Casey Bridgewater got Sarnia back within one in the second period with his first career OHL goal. Kaeden Johnston and Mitch Young with the assists.

London would regain its two-goal lead just 11 seconds into the third period as Sim would score his second of the game.

Easton Wainwright once again got the Sting back within a goal when he found the back of the net on the power play. That was his fifth of the season with Ruslan Karimov and James Barr getting the helpers.

However, the Knights only needed 37 seconds to get the two-goal lead back as Evan Van Gorp would score.

Easton Cowan, the reigning OHL Player of the Year, would add an empty netter to cap the scoring.

London outshot Sarnia 40-23 in the game. Sting goalie Nick Surzycia would make 35 saves, earning him 2nd star of the game.

With the loss, Sarnia’s record sits at to 6-4-1-3, while London moves to 8-4-0-0.

The Sting’s next game is on Tuesday, October 29, on the road against the Kitchener Rangers.
