The intriguing lives of notable figures in Lambton County's history will be highlighted in a virtual Heritage Hour program on Thursday evening.
Oil Museum of Canada Curator / Supervisor Erin Dee-Richard said the hour-long panel presentation will include lesser-known stories of both celebrated and infamous characters who have played pivotal roles in shaping our county into the vibrant place it is today.
“Legends of Lambton will bring to life the stories of remarkable individuals whose contributions, challenges, and adventures shaped Lambton County as we know it today,” said Dee-Richard. “The panel will bring a fresh perspective to Lambton’s past, revealing connections that might surprise and inspire.”
Dee-Richard will moderate the November 21 presentation at 7:30 p.m., with representatives from museums across Lambton County taking part.
Dana Thorne (Lambton Heritage Museum), David McLean (Forest Museum), Greg Stott (Historian, University College of the North), Kailyn Shepley (Sombra Museum), and Nicole Aszalos (Lambton County Archives) had planned on participating.
Museum and Archives Marketing and Events Coordinator Jessica Stevenson said you'll certainly recognize a few of the people that will be highlighted. "We will be talking about Chris Hadfield who is an astronaut, Kim Mitchell who is a musician, Louis Pesha who is a photographer, as well we will be covering Robert McBride who was a poet, Marie Prevost who was an actor in the silent film era and Maud Menten who is a Canadian physician and chemist," said Stevenson.
