$10K donated for structure ahead of Moore Museum's 50th

St. Clair Township council has agreed to provide a funding boost to the Moore Museum as planning is underway to celebrate its 50th anniversary this spring.

Councillor Cathy Langis introduced a successful motion during a meeting on February 18 to provide a one-time donation of $10,000 to build a shade structure in time for the museum's anniversary celebrations, scheduled to take place on June 7.

As stated in her motion, Moore Museum's pavilion project did not make the approval list for the capital budget.

Langis said the initial request during budget deliberations was for $25,000.

"They know they have to use reserves to complete this. I'm just asking if we can help them out," Langis said.

The donation will come out of the education and environment fund.

Langis also noted the structure could be used for future outdoor events and activities.
