A woman is facing several charges after a brief foot pursuit with Sarnia police.
Just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26 a Sarnia police officer on patrol spotted a group of four people behind a commercial property in the area of Exmouth Street and East Street.
The officer recognized one woman and knew there to be warrants for her arrest on multiple charges.
Police said the woman took off running when the officer entered the parking lot. The officer then exited the cruiser and ran after her, at which time it's alleged the woman tossed a purse and fabric bag.
Police said the officer caught up with the woman, who allegedly became combative and physically resistant, but was taken into custody without further incident.
During a search of the bags the woman allegedly tossed, police found 64 grams of crystal methamphetamine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, as well as a single round of handgun ammunition.
The 33-year-old woman is charged with resisting police, possession for the purpose of trafficking, failure to comply with a release order, and breach of probation.
Following a bail hearing, she was remanded into custody.
