St. Pat's students re-elect Bob Bailey in mock vote

At St. Patrick's High School, students also re-elected Bob Bailey on Thursday.

The Progressive Conservative candidate garnered 35.2 per cent of the vote in the mock election, followed by 23.4 per cent which went to Other candidates.

The Liberals came in third with 21.9 per cent of the mock vote, the NDP with 13.6 per cent.

Voter turnout at the Sarnia high school was 55 per cent.

Social Sciences Department Head Payton Jacklin had previously told Sarnia News Today he expected about 1,500 students to participate.

The mock election is put on with help from CIVIX, a provincial organization that provides instructional materials for students to learn about the electoral process.

Across Ontario students at 1,839 schools elected a PC government with 24.1 per cent of the vote.

The NDP formed the official opposition in the mock election with 23.6 per cent of the vote.

Bailey re-elected in Sarnia-Lambton

Progressive Conservative incumbent Bob Bailey will serve a sixth term as Sarnia-Lambton's MPP after being re-elected during the 44th Ontario general election.
