Event showcasing beverage establishments continues to grow

Local breweries, cideries, and distilleries will showcase their products during the Brews, Booze & Bites Festival at Widder Station in Thedford this weekend.

Owner Allen Stubbs said they've held this type of event for approximately five years.

Last year, Stubbs said they collaborated with Tourism Sarnia-Lambton for Cheers Fest, but this year Widder Station is back to running the event on its own.

"It's growing. We started off with six vendors the first year and now we're upwards of 20 vendors of breweries, wineries, and distilleries," Stubbs said.

Other vendors such as Soul Fire Tattoos, Sparx Bar, and Blue Coast Bitters will also be at the event, along with live entertainment.

Stubbs said the event will be spaced out in two buildings.

"Widder Flats is our event facility, which will house approximately 10 vendors and then we have a brand new, renovated cart shed that will have another 10 to 11 vendors," he said.

As of Thursday, Stubbs said upwards of 300 tickets had been sold but they expect to see approximately 500 people on Saturday, May 3.

The event will be split into two time slots, from 12 pm. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

General admission tickets cost $10, and drink tokens can be purchased separately on site.

Tickets for the Brews, Booze & Bites Festival can be purchased online. Stubbs said walk-ins will be accepted.

However, tickets for the shuttle service are nearly sold out. Pick-up and drop-off locations were chosen in Sarnia (including Bright's Grove), Petrolia, and Corunna.

Stubbs said two buses almost immediately sold out, so they added a third bus, and tickets for that went quickly as well.
