Weapons, cash found in search of Aamjiwnaang home

Sarnia police are reporting the seizure of firearms and cash from a residence on Beaver Circle at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.

The Major Case Action Team (MCAT), Emergency Response Team (ERT), K9, patrol, and the Crime and Intelligence Unit executed a search warrant at a home on May 8.

Police claim they seized over $30,000 in currency, a .45 caliber handgun with ammunition, a .22 caliber Blue Line Solutions rifle with ammunition and other assorted ammunition.

Police allege the firearms and ammunition were unlawfully stored.

Three people are facing charges including unauthorized possession of a firearm, and careless storage of a firearm.

One of the accused is also charged with violating probation and breaching a conditional sentence order.

Each of the suspects was held for a bail hearing.
