Sarnia-Lambton residents receive coronation medals

Seven residents have been awarded King Charles III Coronation Medals to recognize their contributions to the community, province, or country.

Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey presented the medals during a reception at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club on Monday, July 14.

Details about each recipient can be found below.

Raveena Duggal was recognized for her extensive charity work for organizations including the Women’s Interval Home, The Inn of the Good Shepherd, Bare Necessities Little Lunches, and the Canadian Cancer Society.

St. Clair Mechanical Owner John Dawson has grown his business over the past four decades and has worked on critical infrastructure and energy projects, locally and nationally.

Doug and Judy Krall were honoured for the time they have contributed to the Petrolia Enniskillen Fair. MPP Bailey's office said the two are committed to educating people about the importance of agriculture and preserving the traditions of rural communities.

Petrolia Councillor Debb Pitel was commended for her work as a municipal councilor, a businesswoman, an author, and an advocate. Pitel has written several books to raise awareness about mental health and suicide, and has led initiatives to help ensure that people in crisis can access help.

Lambton County Developmental Services Executive Director Nick Salaris has spent over 30 years supporting those with intellectual disabilities. He has helped fundraise for the organization and has helped launch innovative training and skill development programs within the sector.

Advocate Marilyn Gifford's medal was presented on behalf of the Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, MPP Sylvia Jones. Bailey's office said Gifford has been working to address the issue of doctor shortages in Ontario and has been circulating petitions as a way to raise awareness on systemic challenges within the health care sector.
