BW Anglers' walleye derby set for overnight Friday

Hundreds of dollars in prize money is up for grabs during the Bluewater Anglers' annual walleye derby.

The boat and shore event kicks off at 6 p.m. on Friday, and the weigh-in will take place at the hatchery, under the Blue Water Bridges, from 2 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Winners will be announced immediately after the weigh-in.

Those with a valid fishing licence can purchase a $10 entry ticket at The Outdoorsman until 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

All members of a group or on a boat must have a ticket.

Money raised during the event will support the Bluewater Anglers and their operations.

The boundaries are the same as the popular salmon derby.

Lines can be cast in the St. Clair River south to the south end of Fawn Island, and in Lake Huron from the water treatment plant at Grand Bend west to north of Lexington, Michigan.

Prizes will be awarded for the 10 heaviest walleyes, one per person, with the top prize being $500.

An additional $100 prize will be awarded for the biggest fish (by weight) entered by a Bluewater Anglers member.
