The annual Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign has surpassed the 40 per cent mark.
Director of Development and Communications Ryan Doyle said, to date, about $600,000 has been raised toward the $1.5 million goal.
"We're trending on pace with last year. We're still a little bit behind but it's not because of any major thing, it's just we knew there were some campaigns that weren't going to land at the same time," said Doyle. "So we're behind now but we're still forecasting that we're going to do ok."
He said the United Way is appealing to groups and businesses who may have not contributed in the past, to consider making a contribution to this year's fundraising effort.
"We know that a lot of people in Sarnia have done very, very well," he said. "So I think if you're in a position where you've done very, very well and you're looking to increase your community support, definitely consider making a donation to us. Consider making a donation to one of our agencies, they're all amazing. But if you're a business owner or workplace owner, consider running a campaign with us. Just reach out, we'll get it done before the end of the year."
Plans are already underway for the second annual Novemburger next month.
"We have about a dozen restaurants already signed up to join, so that's starting to launch. I've seen some early burgers that have come in which is pretty exciting and I've seen some old favourites that are returning, so it's pretty cool," said Doyle.
A total of 16 local agencies receive funding from the United Way including River City Vineyard, the Inn of the Good Shepherd and Lambton Elderly Outreach.
The annual campaign runs until the end of the year.
