TSL to promote new programs during open house

Tourism Sarnia-Lambton (TSL) is hoping to highlight new programs and draw attention to the need for more volunteers during an open house event.

Culture, Entertainment, and Programming Coordinator Bailey Tremblay said TSL noticed some gaps over the years that they're aiming to address through five new programs, including a volunteer program.

"Over the last couple of years, I know we've experienced it and the feedback we've received as well... the volunteer levels have gotten quite low," she said. "With that, we have the potential of losing those events, which we look forward to every year. So we're looking at growing that back up, looking at more incentives for volunteers."

TSL is also looking for Lambton businesses to join their new partner program to provide incentives and relevant information for groups who visit the area for events.

Other new strategies include: group itineraries, a destination wedding and events program, and sport hosting program.

"We're going to be working with all of our local sport organizations, which I believe I counted over 70 of them, we're going to work with them and encourage them on bringing in more tournaments, more events, and whatnot," Tremblay said.

During the open house, guests will also be able to learn more about current programs, see the boardroom available to rent, and visit the new cafe, Bean on a Mission Café & Roastery.

“We look forward to sharing our vision, fostering new connections, and working together to celebrate all that this incredible region has to offer,” said TSL Executive Director Mark Perrin in a media release.

The open house will be held on Wednesday, October 8, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., at 1455 Venetian Blvd. in Point Edward.

Pre-registration is not required.
