A longstanding Thanksgiving weekend tradition returns to Brigden for its 175th year.
Gates open Friday, October 10 at the Brigden Fairgrounds for the annual fall fair and it runs through Monday.
Spokesman Dennis Robinson said this year's theme is "Home Grown, Home Made, Farm Fresh."
"That covers certainly a wide variety of agricultural products across Lambton County," said Robinson. "This is the final fall fair in Lambton County so we hope to bring out the best in people."
Robinson said World's Finest Shows has been busy moving all of their equipment and attractions onto the grounds.
"We are privileged that it is Thanksgiving weekend, it's homecoming for a number of families," he said. "Whether they come for an hour or all day, we appreciate the support. We try to shuffle things up every year to showcase agriculture slightly differently. Whether it's nostalgia or the most common piece of equipment today, they can see it. Welcome back to Brigden is the way we look at it."
The midway opens at 10 a.m. each day and features a number of fun rides.
There will be live entertainment, a heavy horse pull, pig races, lumberjack shows, fire school demonstrations, arts and crafts, helicopter rides, food vendors, and hands on activities to enjoy.
Admission on Friday is $5 until 5 p.m. and $20 after 5 p.m. for the tractor pull.
Saturday through Monday entry is $10 for adults, elementary school-aged children get in free all weekend. Parking at the fairgrounds is also free.
Weekend passes can be purchased for $30.
The first recorded Brigden Fair took place in 1850. The Thanksgiving tradition was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
