Sarnia man faces child pornography charges

A 30-year-old Sarnia man is facing charges in connection with an online child sexual exploitation investigation.

It was undertaken by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (CSEU), with help from Lambton OPP and members of the OPP Digital Forensics Unit.

Police said a number of electronic devices were seized during the search of a Sarnia residence on October 6.

Lloyd Eldon Campbell is charged under the Criminal Code with possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography.

Campbell was released pending a November 10 court appearance in Sarnia.

OPP Detective Staff Sergeant Chris Barkey stressed the importance of maintaining a safe online environment.

"Online child sexual exploitation is not confined to distant places or anonymous corners of the Internet - it exists in every community," said Barkey. "Our commitment to protecting children is unwavering, and each investigation reflects our determination to expose offenders, safeguard victims, and remind the public that vigilance begins at home."

Parents are encouraged to speak with their children about Internet safety.

Anyone with information related to online child exploitation is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or their website.
