Grant opportunity for youth-led grassroots project

Two organizations have partnered together in order to support youth-led climate initiatives through a grant and mentorship program.

Lift 360 Foundation and Climate Action Sarnia-Lambton (CASL) are offering a funding opportunity of up to $1,000.

“Local youth are already stepping up on climate, and we want to give them the support they need to succeed so we are very excited and grateful to Lift 360 for providing youth with this wonderful opportunity,” said CASL spokesperson Allan McKeown in a media release.

Lift 360 Foundation is a national organization founded by Lisa Kates and Darcy Higgins, who are from Sarnia.

“We know that young people have the creativity and drive to lead on solutions to the climate crisis,” said Higgins. “This program will provide resources and mentorship to help youth turn their ideas into meaningful action for their communities.”

The grant opportunity is open to youth, grassroots organizations, and collectives in Sarnia-Lambton. The organizations said priority will be given to Indigenous and Black youth, newcomers, low-income communities, and rural projects.

Applicants will have to submit a short description of their project, with details pertaining to climate goals, anticipated challenges, expenses, and how it may improve climate justice and community resilience.

Applications are due by October 18 and can be emailed to writeus@lift360.ca (with Youth Grant in the subject line).
