Blue Jays fan gear in high demand

Local stores are having a hard time keeping Toronto Blue Jays fan gear on the shelves.

Tara Acton, Assistant Store Manager at Sport Chek told Sarnia News Today it's been really busy with shoppers looking to get their hands on Blue Jays items.

"We've had people calling and coming in first thing in the morning looking for Blue Jays gear, looking for hoodies, jerseys, t-shirts, hats, car flags, anything that they can get their hands on," said Acton.

She said business at the Lambton Mall store picked up Tuesday morning.

"The last series was really popular, but as soon as they clinched to go to the World Series, that's when things really exploded," said Acton.

She said right now, selection is limited.

"We've got more for kids than we do for adults at this point and we've got mostly hats," said Acton.

Last minute shoppers are reminded to be patient.

"Get out now while you can, it is going fast," said Acton. "Just be patient with employees because obviously it's a very popular product and we're going to be limited in selection. So just come in with an open mind for what you're looking for and be kind."

This is the Toronto Blue Jays' first trip to the World Series since 1993.

They will face the defending champion LA Dodgers in the best of seven, with game one at the Rogers Centre in Toronto Friday night.
