A frighteningly fun tradition will return to "Cana-Scare-A-Park" this weekend with new and popular Halloween attractions.
City of Sarnia Recreation Coordinator Sean Hanlon said attractions will be set up with varying scare factors ranging from one to four, with four being the most scary.
"For this year, we'll have attractions such as the monster mash dance for youngsters. As well, attendees can check out Pumpkin Alley with over 200 carved and lit pumpkins, we'll also have a cemetery decorated with humorous tombstones," said Hanlon. "Very popular at the event, we have two haunted houses as well as the bone collector garbage truck."
Trick-or-treat stations will also be set up and guests are encouraged to wear costumes.
"New this year, we're excited, we have the Witch's Hut Escape Room where attendees can enter the hut, find the family heirloom and escape before the witch comes back," said Hanlon.
Fright Night is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 25, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the Animal Farm at Canatara Park.
The free event is held in partnership with the Seaway Kiwanis Club. Hanlon said of all the events the two host, Fright Night is by far the most popular.
Residents visiting the park ahead of the event may notice some of the Halloween exhibits already in place. Roughly 100 volunteers have been helping to install decorations and displays.
"Seaway Kiwanis Club members serve as the lead volunteers, overseeing the setup and coordination of the different haunted areas. So these volunteers began setting up on October 14," Hanlon said.
A map of the event can be found on the city's website.
To facilitate the event, the park's service road (Cathcart Boulevard, west of Lake Chipican Drive) will be closed on October 25 between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m.
