Tenant dispute leads to weapons, assault charges

A 65-year-old Sarnia man is facing assault and weapons charges after a dispute at a rental property on London Road.

Sarnia police said at around 4 p.m. Thursday, a man confronted a maintenance worker about a damaged cupboard door in his apartment.

Police said an argument ensued that escalated into pushing and shoving, and the man produced a pair of brass knuckles and allegedly threatened to assault the worker.

The suspect called 9-1-1 and allegedly told the police dispatcher his intent to assault the worker further.

Police placed him under arrest and seized the brass knuckles.

Police said the suspect was out on bail with court ordered conditions to not possess weapons.

There were no injuries, but the man allegedly urinated all over his toilet-equipped holding cell.

Davin Lindfors, 65, was held for bail on charges of:

- Assault with a weapon

- Uttering threats

- Unauthorized possession of a weapon

- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

- Failure to comply with a release order

- Mischief under $5,000

Following his bail hearing, he was released by the court with conditions.

Sarnia police said this is their 53rd interaction with Lindfors since November 2024, including four arrests and 11 charges.
