Bluewater Health welcomes two new physicians

Two new specialists are coming to Bluewater Health.

Joining the team are Dr. Rachel Haywood, who is in emergency medicine, and Dr. Badi Watunda, who is in paediatrics.

Privileges for the new physicians were approved at the Board of Directors meeting held November 26.

Dr. Haywood completed her Bachelor of Science in Honours Biology at McMaster University before earning her Doctor of Medicine and Master of Science degrees from Saba University School of Medicine in the Dutch Caribbean. She recently completed her residency in Family Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University.

“I chose to practice emergency medicine at Bluewater Health because it represents both a professional commitment and a personal calling,” said Dr. Haywood in a news release.

Dr. Watunda completed his paediatric residency at Tygerberg Hospital, the teaching hospital of Stellenbosch University in Cape Town, South Africa. He brings more than 10 years of experience as a general medical practitioner, along with additional training in paediatrics and a strong background in teaching and research.

“Bluewater Health attracted me because of its location in Sarnia – a beautiful, family-friendly community surrounded by water,” said Dr. Watunda in a news release. “I was also drawn to the opportunity to practice both hospital and community-based paediatrics.”

Bluewater Health said in a news release that the addition of the two new physicians to its professional staff, further strengthens access to high-quality care for patients and families across Sarnia-Lambton.
