Sarnia’s Salvation Army has reached its donation goal for the annual Red Kettle Campaign.
The goal of $175,000 was surpassed this holiday season, with a total of $178,405.25 raised.
"In a year where the need has grown by over 50%, you showed up for your community in a big way." The Salvation Army said in a social media post. "Those extra few thousand dollars represent hundreds of additional meals and critical support for families in our city. Thank you for being there for your community this Christmas season!"
The money collected in the kettle campaign every year goes toward all of the Salvation Army's programs, including the food bank, outreach truck, rental utility banks, and medical outreach.
It represents a significant portion of the Army’s yearly budget for programming.
The group gave its thanks to everyone who was able to donate and volunteer this holiday season.
