Return of the Mack at Lambton College

The spirit of classic street basketball is making a comeback at Lambton College.

The Lambton Lions Men’s and Women’s teams will host a special one day tournament called Return of the Mack.

The 3-on-3 competition, which is a throwback to the iconic Gus Macker tournaments, will be held on February 14 at the Cestar Group Athletics and Fitness Complex.

Money raised from the event will help Lambton's student athletes represent the community at a high competitive level while they also focus on their education.

Organizer and President of the Junior Lions Basketball Club Stephanie Kennedy said many students are actively involved in the community, working as mentors and leaders through youth camps and with local non-profit groups.

“Basketball has always been a powerful connector in this community. This tournament is about tapping into that shared history while supporting our student athletes, who give so much back to Sarnia-Lambton throughout the year.”

Teams are welcome to register in either the high school, adult recreation, or open/elite division. Registration is $200 per team, and each team can have a maximum of four players. They're encouraged to register as soon as possible as spots are limited.

Return of the Mack is also being called a celebration of local basketball culture. DJ Phat Fingers will be on hand spinning tracks.

The celebration continues into the evening with an after-party at The Den on the Lambton College campus, open to the public and featuring music, food and drink specials, access to golf and multi-sport simulators, raffles, and awards.

Those interested in taking part in the tournament or supporting the event can contact Stephanie Kennedy at stephanie.kennedy@lambtoncollege.ca.

The after-party at The Den is open to the public, and tickets can be purchased online.
