Sarnia police arrested a 34-year-old man on Tuesday, following multiple, separate disturbance reports.
Just after 8:45 p.m., officers were called to a convenience store on Finch Drive.
According to police, a customer reported an unknown man was behaving erratically, blocking their vehicle in with his black van, and threatening them. By the time police arrived, the man had already left.
The description provided to police allowed investigators to connect the same man and vehicle to an incident at a veterinary clinic earlier that same day, where a man was acting belligerently and demanding free veterinary services for his dog.
Police located the black van, with the suspect's licence plate, shortly after responding to the Finch Drive convenience store and used their own vehicles to block it in. The man attempted to drive away, but stopped when an officer opened the driver's side door, police said.
When attempting to arrest the suspect, officers said he threatened to have his dog attack them and continually uttered threats.
Multiple officers had to step in to complete the arrest, as the man reportedly became violent with the initial arresting officer.
Once in custody, police said the man continued to be vulgar and belligerent, adding that he threatened sexual violence against female officers, general violence against everyone else.
Allegedly, the man also made his holding cell unusable by trying to obscure the surveillance cameras and urinating on the walls and floor.
He's charged with uttering threats, assaulting a police officer, causing a disturbance, and mischief under $5,000.
