The Kiwanis Club of Corunna-St. Clair has received dozens of mural design from local children.
The club put a call out for ideas early this year, after deciding its first project as a group would be a mural to liven up the front of the Corunna Library.
Public Relations and Media Chair Michelle Agar said the ideas were collected from the library and Colonel Cameron and Sir John Moore Elementary Schools.
"We were really surprised," Agar said. "At first, we had heard it was a little bit slow getting submissions, so we're really happy to get the 70 that we got."
She said they reviewed the submissions at a recent meeting.
"We're going to look for some different themes before we reach out to the artist that we've talked to previously," Agar said.
She said fundraising for the project, estimated to cost $10,000, has been going well.
"We were so grateful to get the Creative County Grant from Lambton County, so that was going to pay for about half of the mural," Agar said. "We've had a couple of trivia nights, which were very successful, and we actually just received a donation from the Seaway Kiwanis in Sarnia. They donated $500 to our project. So, everything is going really well."
The project has also received $3,500 from the Judith and Norman Alix Foundation.
Agar said with the mural project progressing on to the next phase, they're starting to think about other projects.
She said work to enhance a community green space, launch a farmers market, and host a golf tournament are being discussed
