Jake's Junior Hockey Wrap Up

Nolan VandenBoorn scored his second OT winner of the season as Chatham (11-3-0-0) edged LaSalle (10-2-0-3) 7-6 in a battle of the Western Conference's two top teams.

VandenBoorn finished the night with a pair of goals, while Kevin Gursoy had two goals and two assists in the win. Liam MacDougall had a hat trick for LaSalle. The win is the Maroons 10th straight victory, while the loss snaps LaSalle's ten game win streak. The Sarnia Legionnaires (7-6-0-0) beat Lambton Shores (4-8-0-2) 5-2 on Saturday. -- The Petrolia Flyers (4-8-0) were unable to hang onto a two goal third period lead, a dropped a 6-5 decision to Wallaceburg (1-8-1).

Curtis Helps scored twice for the Flyers, while Trent Jardine, Zach Van Eyk and Jack Hackett added singles.

Leading 5-3 with 14 minutes left in regular, Petrolia surrendered three goals as Wallaceburg rallied for their first win of the season. -- The Sarnia Sting (8-3-1-0) are coming off a 6-2 loss in Oshawa Friday. Sarnia prepares for three games in three nights this weekend, starting with a home game against Mississauga Friday. The Sting are tied with Sault Ste. Marie for top spot in the West Division. Sarnia's 17 points is also tied with Erie and Kitchener for the OHL lead.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
