The Sarnia Sting's losing streak now stands at nine games following a 5-4 overtime loss in front of 2,771 fans at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena Friday.
Windsor led 1-0 after the first period on a goal from Tyler Angle.
Sean Josling with his 30th goal of the season tied the game at the 2:11 mark of the second period.
Three minutes into the third period Jamieson Rees, returning from suspension, notched his 21st to give Sarnia a short-lived lead.
66 seconds later Connor Corcoran scored for the Spitfires and added another three minutes later.
The Sting rallied with goals from Ryan Roth, his 21st, and Brayden Guy's 11th to once again vault the Sting into the lead.
But with less than four minutes remaining in regulation Cole Purbo tallied for the Windsor forcing the game into overtime where Curtis Douglas scored the winning goal at 1:11.
First star Benjamin Gaudreau stopped 60 of 65 shots for Sarnia and said it's been awhile since he's faced that many shots.
" I had that once in minor peewee but I don't think that really counts."
The 17-year-old rookie thought the Sting played a solid game. "It was one of the better games of the year. A few lucky bounces went into the back of our net."
Gaudreau said the team was excited to have Jamieson Rees back from suspension. "He's an awesome player so having him back definitely gave the boys some confidence too. He's pretty much a point-per-game at least so it gave us the jump we needed there."
Xavier Medina and Kari Piironen combined for 33 saves.
The two teams square off again in Windsor Saturday night.
