Sting double up Sault Ste. Marie on the road

The Sarnia Sting are on a winning streak for just the second time this season.

They took on the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on the road Sunday and ended up beating them 6-3.

The only other time the Sting won consecutive games was back in October when they beat Flint, North Bay, and Sudbury.

The first period saw two goals from the Sting. The first came from Beckham Edwards, his 13th goal, and Zach Filak, his 9th goal. Tyson Doucette, Easton Wainwright, and Liam Beamish grabbed assists on the goals.

The second period saw both teams go back and forth with goals.

Sault Ste. Marie got the first when Jordan Charron found the back of the net.

Ryan Brown extended the Sting’s lead with his 7th of the season. Beamish got his second assist on the play while Mitch Young grabbed the other helper.

Sault. Ste Marie once again cut the lead to one goal when Marco Mignosa scored. However, the Sting would get one more goal from Casey Bridgewater, his 2nd of the season, before the end of the period. Hughston Hurt and Edwards got the assists on the goal.

The third period saw another two goals from the Sting. Beamish got his 4th goal before Dylan Luecke scored his 1st career OHL goal in an empty net. Brown and Lukas Fischer got assists on Beamish’s goal while Luecke’s was unassisted.

Sault Ste. Marie would get one more goal from Justin Cloutier before the final whistle.

With the win, Sarnia’s record improves to 10-17-2-5, while Sault Ste. Marie moves to 14-17-0-0.

The Sting’s next game is on Wednesday, December 18, at home against the Kitchener Rangers.

You can catch the action live on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM).
