Sting lose in heartbreaking fashion to Barrie

The Sarnia Sting aren't going to feel great about how the game ended against the Barrie Colts.

The two teams faced off in Barrie Saturday night with the Colts winning 4-3 in overtime.

Opening the scoring was the Sting's Zach Filak. James Barr got the only assist on Filak's 13th goal.

Barrie tied the game halfway through the first period after Owen Van Steensel found the back of the net.

Easton Wainwright gave the Sting the lead back a couple of minutes later with his 16th goal.

Daylen Moses extended the lead before the end of the period. His 11th goal was assisted by Beckham Edwards and Hughston Hurt.

Barrie outplayed the Sting in the second period, outshooting them 14-7. Emil Hemming got the only goal for the Colts, getting them within one heading into the third period.

The Sting were less than a minute away from winning in regulation, however, Kashawn Aitcheson was able to tie the game 3-3.

It only took a minute and a half into overtime for Barrie to get the game winner from Anthony Romani.

With the loss, Sarnia's record drops to 21-31-6-7, while Barrie moves to 40-21-2-2.

The Sting's next game is on Thursday, March 20, on the road against the Windsor Spitfires.
