No Ward Funds Left

Windsor councillors have no ward funds this year.

The money for each ward had initially been cut from $15,000 to 7,500 in the 2015 budget, but after deliberations early this week, Councillor Irek Kusmierczyk says council cut them all together.

"If someone comes up to me right now and says, 'we're looking to establish a dog park in Forest Glade.'  I'm not going to have the discretion to use that $7,500 towards a dog park," explains the city councillor.  "We'll have to find it somehow in terms of the recreation budget."

Kusmierczyk believes it was a necessary cut after deciding to keep ice at Adie Knox arena, keep Windsor Water World open and support the Windsor Symphony Orchestra.
