In-Camera Meeting Leak In Amherstburg

Information from private Amherstburg council meetings has been leaked to the public, sparking a change in policy. Members of council raised the issue a few months ago. CAO John Miceli says information was previously sent through the online sharing service Dropbox. "Now we're simply providing hard copies of that type of information at the in-camera meeting," he says. "And we're collecting the information after the in-camera meeting." Anyone caught leaking private and confidential information can face serious disciplinary action. "If it's an employee, it would be up to and including termination," Miceli says. "If it's a council member, that type of violation would be subject to what council would agree to." Administration isn't sure if someone inside is leaking the information or a member of the public was accessing it online. In-camera meetings consist of council members, the CAO, clerk, deputy clerk and other members of administration if it relates to a specific issue.
