Lasalle Finalizes Budget

Residents in LaSalle will see a 1.5% increase on their property tax bills in 2016.

"We were right around 1.9% and council instructed administration to go back at 1.5% so they have to pick up about half a percent somewhere in the budget which represents about $180,000," says Mayor Ken Antaya.

He says council's main goal was to keep the increase below the rate of inflation to make it manageable for residents.

Departments have been tasked with finding that savings in their every day operations. The final budget will be adopted at LaSalle's first council meeting in January.

Major capital projects this year include converting the town to LED lights and the reconstruction of Todd Lane.

The tax increase will cost an extra $47 on a $200,000 home.
