How To Survive The Zombie Apocalypse

If you've ever had doubts whether you would survive a zombie apocalypse, you can put them to rest at a conference at the University of Windsor devoted to it.

The two-day conference is October 28 and 29, and it is open to the public.

It features workshops the survivor will need to continue the human race long after the majority of humankind has succumbed to whatever virus brings it to its knees. Participants can learn self-defense, food security, diagnosis and emergency preparedness.

Friday night will feature a screening of a viewer's choice zombie film, but Saturday will be filled with panel discussions ranging from how to prepare for any disaster, including a zombie invasion.

The event wraps up at 6pm Saturday with a zombie walk starting in Dieppe Park in Windsor to the university campus.

If the spectre of a zombie take over isn't severe enough for you, there is a more intellectual component to the event.

"This conference is a great way for the public to better understand the role of the university in solving complex problems," says conference organizer Lydia Miljan. "We chose the zombie apocalypse as the theme because it speaks to popular culture, but it also lets us deal with some pretty serious issues in a non-threatening way."

Early bird registration is open until October 18, and some workshops have space limitations.

The zombie walk is free and open to the public. Canned food donations are encouraged and will be given to the Downtown Mission.
