For the first time, the Windsor Police Service has named a female superintendent.
Pamela Mizuno had recently been promoted to the position after working with Windsor police for about 22 years.
She says being the first female in this position brings a sense of responsibility.
"I'm now a role model for the various female officers in our service right now and for any future female officers," says Mizuno.
In regards to why she's the first female to see this promotion, Mizuno says there's a number of reasons.
"The number of female officers has always traditionally been lower than men," says Mizuno. "So the pool is obviously smaller to draw upon."
Brendan Dodd had also recently been promoted to superintendent.
"It's a very humbling experience," says Dodd. "I'm looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead."
Dodd and Mizuno had both started in their new positions last week.
"It's been a busy week, quite hecktic and we hit the ground running both Superintendent Mizuno and I," says Dodd.
Although Dodd and Mizuno have been promoted to the same rank they specialize in different areas.
Dodd works mainly with information technology (IT), planning, and information management; while Mizuno has been moved to the investigations floor.
