The Salvation Army's toy drive in Windsor is short about 500 toys less than a week before Christmas Hampers are set to be shipped out.
Spokesperson Shannon Wise says it's not a new problem for the organization.
"We see this every year and people in the Windsor area always pull through," says Wise. "We're just hoping that that happens again this year before [December] 16."
The food and toy Christmas hampers are set to be delivered this Friday and Saturday.
Wise says toys for the 9 to 12 age group would be especially welcomed as they're typically overlooked.
"They're a little bit more difficulty to buy for, but we've got some great examples on our website: electronic games, books, grooming kits, any kind of gift card is always appreciated as well," says Wise.
Wise adds the Salvation is also in danger of missing its red kettle campaign goal in Windsor.
As of December 8, the campaign had raised $96,133 of the $270,000 goal. The campaign ends on Christmas Eve.
Wise says the more volunteers who can come out to help, the better chance of reaching the target.
Toy or monetary donations can be made at the Salvation Army's downtown Windsor location at 355 Church St. or at the Blackburn Radio studios at 2090 Wyandotte St. E in Windsor.
